21st Century and Brahmacharya

BrahmacharyaBy U. Mahesh Prabhu

Brahmacharya or spotless chastity is the best of all penances; a celibate of such spotless chastity is not a human being, but a god indeed… To the celibate who conserves the semen with great efforts, what is there unattainable in this world? By the power of the composure of the semen, one will become just like me.’ – Sri Adishankarachya

On 30th of December 2007, I happened to meet a very charismatic personality, at RSS Office in Bangalore, who was somewhere in his 80s. His name was Sooryanarayan Rao. He was not just elderly, but was also one of the most respected Swayamsevak of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It was one of the finest moments of life having spent conversing with this extraordinary persona.

Of the several important things, I happened to ask him a very important question: ‘How difficult do you think is it to adhere to Brahmacharya in the modern times?’ His answer, rather instantaneously, was ‘Absolutely difficult!’ He further added ‘you see almost all the Medias, with their advertisements, are filled with exoticism because of which you are tempted every moment, owing which it becomes increasingly difficult to be a Brahmachari.Read More…

Time to create a formidable Hindu Lobby

‘In a country that prides itself on its religious diversity and its secular constitution, may see the rise of Modi and his pro Hindu agenda as a terrifying chapter of intolerance. They say he is dangerous fire brand and too comfortable inciting the politics of hatred and violence.’ States Sam Dolonick in his article published in the recent issue of ‘The Economist’. Besides holding Narendra Modi solely responsible for the riots of 2002 he also makes the baseless and completely concocted allegation that ‘The RSS was influenced by 1930s German fascism…’ It’s not that he doesn’t acknowledge the unparalleled achievements of Gujarat Chief Minister. In fact he does when he says ‘Modi has attracted more than 20% of the India’s total investment of $69 billion last year’ but he makes a foul attempt of trying to make it irrelevant by adding ‘But despite his achievement, for may of India’s 1.1 billion people – 14 per cent of who are Muslims – Modi will always be defined by the anti-Muslim violence…’

The ‘cause of hate’ against Modi is, frankly speaking, owing to his Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background, the organization which is today whipping boy of the mainline media and, so called, ‘secular’ organizations. That which ‘The Economist’ says is influenced by the Fascist ideology. Need I say how concocted is this idea, i.e. of RSS being influenced by Fascist? Absolute bunk! Read More…

Fight, Head on.

Life’s a struggle, I seem to have lost,
With no sign of ray, it seems so aghast.

Sitting alone and crying within,
Life seems so much extinct.

I stretch my arms to find none,
With tears coming out on their own.

I loved so many but none ever stayed,
For me to feel lonely and betrayed.

As I watch my face in the mirror,
There is no sign of pleasure and see only tear.

Why do I cry? – I ask myself,
That’s because, says my lord, you don’t know your true self.

With no courage to live I look in the streets,
To find a beggar striving to meet his daily needs.

Are you so bad I ask the self in silence,
Certainly not – I realized in patience.

Give me the courage – I asked the lord,
Don’t worry my child, he assured, its time to move on.

Make the courage if you can’t find one he said,
For the struggles, he told, are many ahead.

Faint not fight on, he stated,
If not for victory or glory fight until the last breath and day.

Life’s struggle, it seems now, I hadn’t really lost,
It’s just that I didn’t fought.

With courage I looked at the challenges so strong,
Henceforth, never shall I fear, for I shall fight – head on!
